The Festival

GINKGO GALORE™ is a daylong arts and music festival celebrating creativity and community in Wilmore, Kentucky — The Ginkgo Capital of America. Launched as part of Wilmore's 150th city-wide celebration, it is the first and only ginkgo-themed festival in the United States.

GINKGO GALORE™ isn't simply an arts festival or a music festival. Those are categories. Here, discovery leads. Art, music, and learning amplify.

People come to explore. That creates a very different identity than "Come hear bands" or "Come buy crafts." Those are commodity festivals. This is a celebration of community, fellowship, fun, legacy, and discovery — with the ginkgo tree as its symbol for all of those things.

Each year's programming is dynamic, reflecting a varying array of Dovetail Event Partners. Discovery is the leading sentiment.

Music alone creates spectators. Art alone creates browsers. Discovery offers ownership.

Ginkgo Foundation

The Ginkgo Foundation

THE GINKGO FOUNDATION is a nonprofit advancing environmental stewardship and community enrichment through programs inspired by the ginkgo tree's resilience and longevity across generations. The Foundation supports public initiatives including events, education, and the arts.

GINKGO GALORE™ operates under The Ginkgo Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Kentucky. EIN: 41-3612882.

Why the Ginkgo Tree?

The ginkgo is the number one city-scape tree in the United States, prized for its resistance to disease and pests. It survived Hiroshima. It has lived for over a thousand years in China. It replicates four ways: by seed, cuttings, branch dip, and transplant.

The first ginkgo was transplanted in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1952, brought from a mission field. Today, trees throughout the city frame a brilliant green-and-gold autumn that draws visitors from across the tri-state region.

In a hurried world, the ginkgo is a reminder that some things still deserve gathering around.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a family-friendly event?

Absolutely. GINKGO GALORE™ is designed for families making memories together. You'll find activities for every age — from toddler play areas and kiddie activities to juried fine art and national music acts.

Is there an admission fee?

Attendance is free. Every attendee is encouraged to pre-register through Eventbrite so we can provide the best possible experience at each venue and activity throughout the day.

Where does the festival take place?

The town of Wilmore itself is the venue. Activities and events are spread across multiple locations including Asbury Seminary's Admin Building, Wilmore Main Street, The Granary Grounds, and participating local businesses along East Main Street.

What is a "Dovetail Event Partner"?

GINKGO GALORE™ uses a collective festival model. Nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations are invited to create their own ginkgo-themed events and weave them into the festival calendar. Each dovetail event is produced by the hosting organization and featured in the official festival lineup at no cost. It's a creative, community-powered way to build a bigger day together.

Is this a religious event?

GINKGO GALORE™ is an open, inclusive, community-wide arts and music festival. While Wilmore is home to a well-known seminary university and a rich faith community, the festival itself is not a religious event. Everyone is welcome — all backgrounds, all ages, all interests.

How does the festival grow over time?

The vision is cumulative. Year one is a day. Year two builds on that community, with a growing podcast, newsletter, and an expanding base of event partners. Eventually, the festival grows to a weekend, and then to a 10-day celebration. Each year's programming is dynamic — that's the nature of discovery.

A Festival Rooted in Place

Wilmore, Kentucky has been known as The Ginkgo Capital of America for decades. The tree defines the town's visual identity each fall, drawing visitors from Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana who come to watch a community turn green-to-gold.

GINKGO GALORE™ was born from a simple idea: if people are already coming to see the trees, why not give them a reason to stay, explore, and connect? The first festival launches October 24, 2026 — inaugurated as part of Wilmore's 150th anniversary celebration.

This is just the beginning.
